In March 2008, Theresa was elected to the US Green Building Council's Materials and Resources Technical Advisory Group (MRTAG). This group of national experts advises on Credit Interpretation Requests (CIR) and credit ruling appeals and it helps to maintain consistency across the LEED product range as it relates to credits for materials and resources.
Theresa serves the U S Green Building Council as a LEED Subject Matter Expert in various capacities.
Theresa served as a member of Mayor Heartwell's (Grand Rapids, Michigan) Environmental Advisory Committee for two years. She was involved with the Non-Toxic Materials Sub-committee. Click here for more information on Mayor Heartwell's environmental vision for Grand Rapids.
In April 2006, Theresa was elected to the US Green Building Council's LEED Application Guide for Retail Core Committee. This committee is charged with the
development of an Application Guide to assist retail projects in becoming LEED certified.
Theresa participated in the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum Social Equity Subcommittee. She also served on the Forum's Board of Directors for three years.
Theresa was a volunteer for the My Healthy Green Home project, an initiative launched to bring affordable, environmentally friendly housing to West Michigan. My Healthy Green Home is a project of the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum and the Inner City Christian Federation. The multi-unit dwelling is being constructed in the Wealthy/Jefferson neighborhood of Grand Rapids, and will serve as a blueprint for the partnerships future green housing endeavors.
A founding member of the USGBC's West Michigan Chapter. Theresa also volunteered on the Program Committee for two years and utilizes her LEED experience in presentations to the Chapter.
